EAN-13 product barcode

Type 12 or 13 digits: we show where the number was registered, check the last digit and draw the barcode.

Your barcode appears here

The code is made in your browser. We don’t store what you type, and the code never passes through our servers.

How to use it

  1. Type the number printed under the bars (13 digits), or 12 digits and we add the last one.
  2. Read the country and the check result.
  3. Download the barcode as PNG, SVG or PDF.

Does a barcode show where a product was made?

No. The first three digits show which GS1 office registered the company, not where the product was made. A Saudi company may make its product in China with a barcode starting 628, and a foreign company may make goods in Saudi Arabia under its own country’s prefix.

Where do I get an official barcode for my product?

From GS1 in your country (such as GS1 Saudi Arabia or GS1 Egypt) after registering and paying the fee. Large retailers and marketplaces only accept registered numbers, so don’t invent one for a product sold in other shops.

For use inside your own shop only (shelves and stock), use numbers starting 200 to 299; they’re reserved for internal use.

FAQ

What does a barcode starting with 628 mean?

The number was registered with GS1 Saudi Arabia. 622 is Egypt, 629 the UAE, 627 Kuwait, 630 Qatar, 608 Bahrain and 607 Oman.

What is the last digit?

A check digit worked out from the 12 digits before it, which catches typing or scanning mistakes. If it doesn’t match, we tell you the right one.

Can I use the barcode I make here on my product?

The drawing is correct and any scanner reads it, but the number itself must be registered to your company with GS1 if you sell in other shops.
