  3. For VAT invoice codes we show the seller, VAT number and amounts, and check them.

What’s inside a Saudi VAT invoice QR code?

ZATCA requires a QR code on simplified tax invoices. In phase 1 it holds five fields: seller name, VAT number, invoice time, total including VAT, and VAT amount. Phase 2 (integration) adds fields for electronic verification: the invoice hash, signature, public key and ZATCA’s stamp.

We read the fields and check that the VAT number has 15 digits starting and ending with 3, and that the VAT is close to 15/115 of the total. Being readable doesn’t mean the invoice is genuine; use ZATCA’s official app to verify it.

FAQ

Is my image or file uploaded?

No. We read the code in your browser and the image or file never leaves your device.

The code wasn’t found. What can I do?

Use a sharper photo or a screenshot, and make sure the whole code is visible and not too tilted. For PDFs we read the first 20 pages.

Does this prove an invoice is genuine?

No. We show what’s in the code and check its format only. The phase-2 electronic signature is verified by ZATCA’s official app.

Why is the VAT less than 15%?

The invoice may include exempt or zero-rated items, or a discount after VAT. A difference isn’t necessarily a mistake.
